The Michigan Medicaid Home Help program is administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. This program’s purpose is to cover caregiving services for activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, bathing, eating, mobility, transferring and toileting. In addition, the Home Help program covers items like preparing meals, shopping for groceries, laundry and housework.
Excitingly, the program allows the Medicaid paid caregiver to be a family member or friend of the elderly or disabled individual needing assistance! Exceptions are that a legal spouses and parents of a patient under 18 cannot be the paid caregiver. This program is the solution for people seeking Government assistance for caregivers of elderly parents or disabled family members.
